036: Dr Caroline Purkhardt – running a business abroad

I am delighted to share this episode with you in which I talk to my friend and fellow parentpreneur Dr Caroline Purkhardt.

Caroline is a published author and entrepreneur who runs Lauvitel Lodge, a beautiful holiday retreat situated in the French Alps.

In this interview, you’ll hear Caroline’s captivating story of how she relocated abroad with two small children, left her husband and set up her own business. You’ll find out about how Caroline launched her business whilst learning a new language and overcoming cultural differences, without the usual support structures available to those starting a business in their home country.

As well as being a doctor of philosophy from the London School of Economics, Caroline is also a certified coach, tai chi teacher and reiki master.

Her new book, Stillness in action, blends a scientific background with the implications of neuroscience, with story-telling from life experiences in sport and in business. It includes tools and approaches that can be used by business leaders to improve their everyday working life.

In this interview, we explore Caroline’s journey and some of the concepts from Caroline’s book, including a technique for enjoying your work by engaging both left and right brains.
