055: Richy K. Chandler – when are you going to get a proper job?

Welcome to our latest episode with Richy K. Chandler. Richy is the creative force behind Tempo Lush, which produces comics and illustrations. Starting out in 2007, Richy’s comic publisher business has gone on to produce several highly rated comics.

After earning a diploma at the Wimbledon School of Art, Richy graduated from Camberwell College of Arts with a degree in Ceramics.

He’s had his work published in Britain, Germany and Japan. These include illustrations, cartoons, logo designs, comic strips and CD covers.

Richy also runs comic workshops for children and adults, which he does to promote the benefits of having time away from children doing creative things.

Alongside an amazing career, Richy successfully co-parents his 10-year-old son.

In this episode we discuss:

  • Balancing creative pursuits and parenting – why that’s different from other types of careers
  • The therapeutic value of making comics and other creative activities (away from children!)
  • How to spend creative time with children
  • The power of visual storytelling to give information
  • The pressure on parents in creative roles with irregular income
