072: Amanda Overend – enjoying books with your children

In this episode I am interviewing Amanda Overend.

WARNING: Do not listen with small children as Amanda talks about delivery of presents at Christmas.

Amanda is mum to 3 young boys and the Owner of Books & Pieces, which makes buying books easy for families who want to enjoy books with their children.

Amanda’s background is in sports PR & Media, and more recently education PR. Whilst pregnant in 2012, she set up Books & Pieces which she ran alongside her day job (and having a third child!). At Christmas 2016 she left her day job to go ‘full time’ with the business.

She has been steadily growing Books & Pieces, and this September was a turning point for her because her youngest started school, so she decided to launch her second business, Stocking Fairy (providing wrapped Christmas stocking gifts)!

In this episode, we will discuss:

• Running a business around family.
• Standing out in a crowded marketplace.
• How Amanda found and tested her new business idea before starting it.
